Microsoft today provided details on the new games and entertainment experiences available to gamers this season. “With 80 games available worldwide by June, and new content and experiences coming to Xbox Live all the time, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360” said Peter Moore, Corporate Vice President of Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft.

Blockbuster Games on the Way
The Xbox 360 games portfolio expands this spring with new next-generation titles from leading developers and publishers that cater to every genre, age, skill level and budget.  Gamers can choose from a range of truly next generation games such as “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” (Bethesda Softworks/2K Games), an Xbox 360 console exclusive with beautiful next generation graphics and a huge world to explore, “Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter” (Ubisoft) the latest version of the successful Tom Clancy series that once again pushes the boundaries of multiplayer boundaries on Xbox Live, and “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend” (Eidos Interactive Ltd) the next-generation debut of the very popular Lara Croft series.

In addition, new titles are coming to Xbox Live Arcade all the time, including “Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting”, “Uno” and the free full version of “Texas Hold ‘Em Poker” by Riverbelle.

Great titles that gamers can expect this season include:

2006 FIFA World Cup™ (EA SPORTS)
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (Electronic Arts)
Blazing Angles Squadrons of WWII (Ubisoft)
Burnout Revenge (Electronic Arts)
Dynasty Warriors® 5 Empires (KOEI)
Far Cry Instincts Predator (Ubisoft)
FINAL FANTASY® XI (Square Enix, Inc.)
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Ubisoft)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend (Eidos)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2K Games)
The Lord of the Rings™ The Battle for Middle Earth II™ (Electronic Arts)
The Outfit™ (THQ)
Top Spin 2 (2K Sports)
Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis (Rockstar Games)
Rumble Roses XX™ (Konami)
X-Men: The Official Game (Activision)
Football Manager (Sega)
Moto GP 2006 (THQ)
Test Drive Unlimited (Atari)

In addition to new games, consumers can extend the experience of existing Xbox 360 titles with new downloadable content available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Microsoft Game Studios confirmed new content for “Project Gotham Racing 3,” including exciting cars and achievements. Fans of “Perfect Dark Zero” will have access to additional content, including downloadable multiplayer maps. Additionally, the unique experience of “Kameo: Elements of Power will be extended through new online cooperative gameplay options and exciting new costumes for Kameo and her warriors.

Xbox Live Digital Content Distribution Sets Records
Xbox Live Marketplace, a digital download centre freely accessible to any Xbox 360 owner with a broadband connection, has reached more than 10 million downloads faster than iTunes did when it launched.  In fact, more than 85 percent of connected Xbox 360 consoles have already downloaded content from Xbox Live Marketplace - everything from game demos and Arcade titles to premier movie trailers and music videos.

Xbox 360 will continue to deliver new online gaming and entertainment experiences including the “Battlefield 2: Modern Combat” game demo (Electronic Arts), the “Burnout Revenge” game trailer (Electronic Arts), and the “Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Horse Armor Pack” (Bethesda Softworks/2K Games) which will all be available this spring on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Response to the post above about GOW:

This is talking about games coming out through June, GOW is currently scheduled for July (and for once I actaully think its gonna make it if what Cliffy B. at Epic is telling the truth on his various blogs - last month he demoed just about every feature in the game for the press)

sparco 03.21.2006 10:49
If you read it you'll notice it says the line up INCLUDES .....(list of games) This means that there could be more :)

So Gears of War (+ many others) is still a possibility :D

There isn't a single good game on that list, until Res5 and Halo3 hit, there isn't much to be excited about.

I'm not too concerned about having to pay more for extra content. For instance, should they release a full expansion, I'd buy it. Better than not getting the expansion at all, like Morrowind. Heck, if they release extra cool weapons, spells, etc., I might be interested. Don't know what horse armor does, though.

We all know the Nintendo Revolution and PLayStation 3 will launch just in time for Holiday season 2006. We also know Microsoft wants a robust sales figure ending 2006 quarterly profit to benefit their shares and overall confidence in the Xbox 360 from consumers and developers. It is very critical for Microsoft to have a counter against the Revolution and PS3 launch especially during the holiday season and I truly believe Halo 3 is the only strategic defence Microsoft has. Basically I would feel pretty confident to expect Halo 3 this holiday season!

GOW is also a much anticipated game due in October. It has the possibility if it lives up to the hype to be a killer app. And I believe its the only game taking advantage of the new engine so that should be interesting!! Halo 3 would be nice but GOW will probably take the cake until spring 07! My 2 cents PEACE

but i thought about H=Hyper Street Fighter.

give me my damn hyper fighter.

Honestly I really don't think Gears of War has the hype or the anticipation to compete with a full scale simultaneous launch from Ninty and Sony. It may seem like it to you but not the average soft-core gamer who's trying to decide which system to buy. Halo 3 however just may have enough juice to pull the Xbox 360 through the next holiday season and counter the launch of the the next gen consoles better then any other anticipated game yet.

good point about H3 being xbox savior .but M$ has to give a chance to other devs to make games for xbox 360 and make them killer apps like Halo franchise .but if they release halo3 in december.to me its a sign that MS has no confidence in other game developers except bungie that can counter attack ps3 launch.i'm not saying less attetion to halo but i don't want to spend five years listening to halo being xbox 360 killer app. if you are to compare ps3 killer apps to xbox 's you find that the majority of ps3 games don't come from first party devs.

peace

27 - H3
Unregistered - vbnf 03.21.2006 20:18
H3 is going to be crazy, it might break it's own record. I think H3 can really hurt Sony but i think if they release H3 no other game will be able to top it on XBL until H4 comes out. H3= godlike / H3 = other developers nightmares/Sony.

29 - Weak?
Unregistered - Fade To Black 03.21.2006 23:43
How is the current 360 lineup weak? I didnt get a good game for my ps2 untill 6 months after it was released. Call OF Duty 2 rocked, along with the other launch titles that i bought i enjoyed very much. Maybe some of you people dont have HDTV sets. i have played on standard TV's and it pales in comparison for the visual effects alone. GRAW is probably one of the most innovative games i have played and is truely a next generation game and is imo a reason for me to purchase the 360 alone. I will be getting oblivion shortly which i am sure will also kick arse. Overall the 360 has the most versitile launhc lineup in consol history and i personlly prefere many good games over one killer app. Which is already here with GRAW.

Well there only games that I'm desperatly after at the moment are:-

ES4 - Oblivion (which the UK get on Friday!)
Dead Rising (Can't wait to play this Dawn of the Dead style game!)
Gears of War (Looks awesome!)
Rainbow Six 4 (Great titles since the 1st one, this shouldn't fail!)
Viva Pinata (Come on, looks cool!)

Apart from that, nothing else until Halo 3, which I will bet my underpants on won't appear until 2007 when the movie comes out. Game, Movie, Book, Comic, Soundtrack (Game/Movie), T-shirts etc etc launch! It's gonna be huge.

Not to bothered about anything else. Also, I think MS will launch GOW along with other top apps (Not Halo 3), around the time of the PS3. They'll just plow down new titles on the launch day or the week before, and if PS3 is going to be worldwide like MS did, expect even worse shortages than the 360, especially with the Blu-Ray drives and Core chip.

Plus, expect a hefty price tag.

Somehow, I don't think MS has anything to worry about anytime soon! Although I think Nintendo might be the dark horse of all the 3 consoles!

31 - everybody has a price
Unregistered - master chief 03.22.2006 01:04
i want bill to do what ever he has to do and get metal gear solid 3 for the 360. the regular xbox has metal gear 2 so why not get metal gear solid 3 for the 360. one other thing i like to see is the entire resident evil series for the 360 just like they did it for the gamecube. that will be nice to have on the 360. nuff said.

You forgeting something?...... SAINTS ROW!! I WANT THAT GAME SO MUCH!!

33 - PS3 NOT BAD save the best for last
Unregistered - kyseec 03.28.2006 23:33
I seen some ps3 games and dam! they look good, but never mind that. With gears of war,too human, mass effect god dam! they are pretty. But don't think these are the true next gen games M.S. always rewards there fans and when the ps3 comes out then they will show a little next gen and then a little and more and so on each time getting better. You know IGN does not have all the release dates for all the games so who knows what people are working on?. TWO DAYS TO VEGAS looks really good allready and its got many months to clean up.
