It is hard to fathom that our lovely Lara Croft is pushing ten years. Most of you may remember her first outing back in 1996 on the original Playstation console, alongside Shigeru Miyamoto’s classic Mario 64, Tomb Raider really redefined the 3D genre with massive levels and brilliant camera work. Unfortunately ever since then the games have gotten progressively worse; in fact TR publisher Eidos actually fired the original designer Core after Lara’s last title Angel of Darkness for the PS2. Taking the reigns now is Legacy of Kain developer Crystal Dynamics who really seem to have a knack for creating truly atmospheric levels and great camera work. Have they returned Lara to her glory days or simply added another tragedy in the Tomb Raider lineage? Read on to find out why Eidos’ decision to replace Core has paid off in spades.Read Full Review Here Add Comment Unregistered - Xgamer 05.01.2006 13:22 I love the game but it is a bit to easy and it's very disappointing that a better graphical next gen. game wasn't developed for the Xbox 360. Still it's really fun to play, I love the larger environments. I hope future titles like this will be developed strictly for the next gen systems and not "ports".I dont mind if the extra time is taken I'd rather see the power of the X fully utilized fully and not just 30%. Unregistered - Xgamer 05.01.2006 13:24 I also give it an 8.0 tops. Unregistered - Ric Hard 05.01.2006 13:33 This isn't Next Gen but a better port of a PS2 or Xbox game. It is kind of sad to think that the only way we will get Next Gen graphics is either the game is exclusive like Gears Of War, Saint's Row, Too Human to name a few or when the PS3 comes out and they stop making games for the PS2. Thats when companies are going to have no choice but to make higher caliber ports of games. Then we can say it's Next Gen. xeon121 05.01.2006 13:49 whats the point in this review the game has been out for ages? with e3 coming im sure their is a bit more news Unregistered - famo 05.01.2006 14:39 I thought the graphics were sweet. Sure they could have been better but for a first gen title on the system the graphics were good. They spent time on detailing the cliffs, water, etc... It would have been better if it wasn't a port but it looks awsome on my TV. I thought the graphics were good. It was a lot better than some of the first release titles thats for sure!! Unregistered - Fade To Black 05.01.2006 14:41 I give it an 8.0 solid gameplay, I think the graphics are very nice definatly looks alot better than the xbox and ps2 versions. i have never been much of a Tomb Raider fan but this one is nice. Unregistered - Fade To Black 05.01.2006 14:42 Kepping in mind that i play all my games in HD 720p and 1080i when available which helps make games look phenominally better. Unregistered - rufntumble 05.01.2006 14:44 As of this printing it's been out for "LESS" than 1 month. What do think is "AGES", 17 days??? Unregistered - famo 05.01.2006 15:21 Does anyone know how to get passed the boss you have to use the sword on. I keep dying. The sword is hard to aim. Its the boss the girl turns into before I was supposed to put the sword in to the stone. Please help me..thanks Unregistered - sean 05.01.2006 17:46 He states this game will keep you busy for a long time to come. Interesting, it takes 7 hours tops to beat this game. And a few more to beat the time trials. Hardly call that a long time to come. Finished this game in less than a week playing no more than an hour or so a day. Unregistered - Michael 05.01.2006 19:56 After years of disappointments, finally a good game. The last time I enjoyed Tomb Raider was version II. This is finally a great game I am addicted to once more. I have a hard time prying myself away and it is finals week were I go to school!! Unregistered - MIKE 05.01.2006 20:19 dame shes fine Unregistered - Fade To Black 05.01.2006 20:45 There is a complete guide and walkthough at IGN. former questionmark 05.01.2006 22:56 bigger studios have separate teams working on projects, like ubisoft with splinter cell: double agent. those will turn out better. plus it will still be awhile before devs start to master the system and use all of the power. Unregistered - Justin 05.02.2006 11:44 In my opinion the games are great, but i think there stretching it out a bit much. Lucid360 05.02.2006 18:10 Got Legends, beat it once, will beat it again on hard and find all the hidden costumes. It is a pretty good game. I agree it is now HOLF F'N CRUD new-gen but it has some cool gfx upgrades for the 360. I don't feel I wasted my money even though it is really short and mostly easy. Hopefully they will continue to show the improvement they did over the unfortunate last TR title on the nexty one.. A little gfx upgrade, and a little longer and TR will be ok for a few more even though the title is getting a little played out at this time. Add Comment |
