Microsoft engineer Chris Satchell has gone on record with the BBC stating that the XBox 360 will contain security technology that hackers have yet to see. This is in an effort to keep users from viewing and downloading illegal content onto their consoles."There are going to be levels of security in this box that the hacker community has never seen before." We've taken security to the hardware level and built it in from the ground up," he is quoted as saying. He did however, add that "There are some really bright people in the world with some really expensive hardware. I'm sure sooner or later someone will work out how to circumvent security. But the way we have done the design doesn't mean that it will work on somebody else's machine." Add Comment  1 -

Also most of them would not of only bought the xbox because the would of already proven themself a consistant video game console purchaser by buying hacking parts and stuff. Also the demented mindset of a hacker is not one to uphold. You have to be a real nerd and loser to say, "hey man I just hacked the G5sj4 code, man I'm sweet and feel really important." You see hackers run their lives by filling their lacking areas of physical appearance and habits, they are not something to aspire to. 7 -

If MS wanted people to be able to hack the 360, they would have given it as shoddy an OS as Windows XP. There is a tiny amount of people who will buy the 360 for hacking. I personally don't see the point, as the games and features look amazing enough. Iv'e never actually thought about hacking it until now, and i still have no intention, especially because i don't have the first clue of how to hack one, lol 8 -
Hacking the 360?ZydecoStorm 09.12.2005 18:07 Hacking any console is not so much to improve gaming, it's to open up the hardware to so many other uses. I've seen a modded Xbox that downloaded movie trailers off the web, played almost all types of video and music files, surfed the net, played DVD's. It was just as good at those tasks as it was playing the games. It turned a gaming console into a multimedia center. Plus it was cool having all your games loaded onto a larger internal hard drive. Faster load times and more portability (not having to travel with a stack of game DVD's. I'm sure Microsoft themselves took some of these popular alternative uses and built them into the 360 because they saw it as a good idea. My concern with all manufacturer provided features is the piracy control and security. It's cool that the 360 will play game trailers and stream video from a Media Center PC. But Microsoft will control the video content, and you'll need to buy other Microsoft products (ie Media Center) to get full use of these features. I of course see why they do it, but sometimes the open source and hacker community demonstrate all the possibilities without the corporate agenda. I wonder if the 360's features would be as diverse, if no one had hacked the original Xbox and geiven them so many ideas about the possibilities. 9 -

You don't have to aspire to, but respect them, they really have cool skills especially if you use a crack or something created by them. you don't know why they hack, they needn't for sure fill their lacking physical areas, but could also be fascinated by the hacking and still have enough physical areas.. you shouldn't say "ahh these inventors are really stupid they should have gone to a party not discover something" but if this helps you and the rest then respect it. these newbs are just filling their lacking skills and intelligence, nothing to aspire to. but its true you shouldnt aspire to, if you are one then you are if not not Add Comment |
