Submitted By: HyperBear
03 Feb 2006 05:01 | Xbox 360

In response to the disappointment that followed the release of yesterday's Call of Duty 2 patch, Infinity Ward (via the Xbox.com Forums) has reassured concerned gamers that the team is working hard on a multiplayer update: "[We] are pleased to announce that we are testing a number of multiplayer enhancements to the community, including addressing the lag issues. We are working really hard on these updates." While lag is the most pressing issue, this new statement suggests that Infinity Ward may also use the forthcoming update to grant users greater freedom to choose the parameters of the matches they play. And let's hope they toss some new maps in there for good measure.

Oblivion: Xbox 360 vs. PC
Submitted By: HyperBear
03 Feb 2006 05:00 | Systems | Xbox 360

So how do the two versions of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion stack up? CVG recently put the question to the game's producer, Gavin Carter: CVG: Will there be different features or limitations in the Xbox 360 version? Carter: We are working to make the two versions as close to identical as possible. The Xbox 360 version should be visually identical to a PC running with all the visual options turned to maximum. PC users will have more options to turn down certain visuals to better accommodate older hardware setups. The only thing the Xbox 360 version will lack is the Elder Scrolls Construction Set for modding. It simply isn't possible to offer on a console. Elsewhere, Xbox.com spoke with Oblivion's executive producer, Todd Howard: (Click read more for the Xbox.com q's and a's)

id Software co-founder John Carmack has given the thumbs up to the Xbox 360, stating that it is likely to become id's "primary development platform". This from an interview he have to PC Gamer UK: "The Xbox 360 will probably will be id's primary development platform. As it is right now, we would get the game up on the 360. When I would do major hack-and-slash architectural changes it was back on the PC, but it’s looking like the Xbox 360 will be our target. All of our tools are on the PC, and we’re maintaining the game running on the PC, but probably all of our gameplay development and testing will be done on the Xbox 360. It’s a really sweet development system."

Enter Oblivion: The Elder Scrolls IV interview
Submitted By: DragonFly
01 Feb 2006 05:52 | Xbox 360

16 square miles is the size of the world in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Think about it – 4 miles wide, 4 miles deep, and everything in between. When you speak about a game being big, that’s big. And Oblivion’s world isn’t just an empty space that hosts dull ‘fetch-this-go-there’ missions. It’s a living, breathing environment full of forests, lakes, mountains and portals to hell, and you’re free to go wherever – and do whatever – you want. As an RPG it’s big. As an Xbox 360 game it’s positively gigantic. With such a huge experience to look forward to OXM hooked up with Gavin Carter, Oblivion’s producer at developer Bethesda, to try and get to grips with just how big it will be.
