Analyst: Every 13 Seconds an Xbox 360 Sells on eBay

As the newest console from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 continues to sell out of stores across the nation. Buyers are turning to eBay in an effort to get their hands on the latest craze in the video gaming market. In fact, the first week after its launch (November 22nd, 2005 - November 28th, 2005) Xboxs were selling at an unbelievable rate of 1 every 13 seconds during peak times. Based on Terapeak analysis of eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) data, over $23 million worth of Microsoft Xbox 360s were sold in the first week.

Speaking at yesterdays' 33rd Annual UBS Global Media Conference Microsoft's Bryan Lee demonstrated the 360 to an audience of key participants in the media sector and proclaimed it to be slightly more powerful then the Playstation3. - "With Sony if they do hit the specs which they've said they'll have there's a debate, there's a couple of categories where they outdo us, there's several categories where we outdo them. On balance I think most people who study the space will tell you our system is slightly more powerful then theirs from a hardware standpoint. But for the purposes of this discussion I think it's fair to say they're both Ferraris"

Capcom plans to release its latest horror-survival game on two consoles at once, a first for the series. In an interview published in Xbox360ism (a special edition of Dorimaga), Capcom Research & Development division chief Keiji Inafune said he expects Resident Evil 5 to be released simultaneously on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 if possible. -- "We want to grow the Resident Evil series into a multi-platform franchise, so we hope to release it simultaneously [on the two next-generation consoles]," Inafune told Xbox360ism. "But since we don't know the launch period for the PS3 yet, so it's hard to say [if we can]." --
